Meet Marlee:
Hello! I’m originally from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I graduated in 2018 with my BA in International Affairs and Dance from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and am proud to have called southern California home ever since.
Prior to law school, I worked in Los Angeles in a variety of nonprofit spaces. Immediately after graduating, I worked in fundraising and marketing for various performing arts organizations. Then, after COVID brought massive layoffs in the live arts sector, I decided to pivot into the field of law. For two years, I worked for Public Counsel, a nonprofit legal aid provider based out of Koreatown, LA. In this role, I witnessed the incredible impact that zealous legal advocacy can have on individuals and communities, which inspired me to pursue a JD myself.
I chose to attend UCI Law because of the extensive hands-on learning opportunities offered here, the strong emphasis on public interest work, and the warm, supportive community of students, faculty, and staff. I’ve been involved with student organizations such as the Public Interest Law Fund, OutLaw, and the Environmental Law Society, and have had the pleasure of getting involved with several pro bono projects including the Transgender Legal Assistance Clinic, for which I now serve as a student leader.
In my personal life, I am passionate about music, food, and cycling. I play in a band in LA, love to host dinner parties for my friends, and enjoy riding my bike to the beach.
I care deeply about supporting incoming law students because I know just how difficult and overwhelming the admissions process can be. I was in your shoes only a year ago!
