National Lawyers Guild

The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) at UC Irvine School of Law seeks to bring together law students dedicated to using the law as a tool to advance social justice and social movements. Our chapter is a student chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, a national bar association of progressive and movement lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers serving as the legal arm in social justice movements challenging systemic criminalization and marginalization.

Our aim is to build a collective space for all who are committed to defending and advancing the dignity, rights, and safety of workers, women, LGBTQIA+ and gender non-conforming folks, immigrants, people with disabilities, communities of color, and those facing poverty and houselessness. We oppose racism in all its forms and reject systems of militarism, colonialism, capitalism, and imperialism that endanger self-determination and liberation around the world.

As a collective of law students, we are committed to using the law as an instrument for the protection of all people until a system of true justice is achieved.
