New Announcements and Deadlines

Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality Celebration: Tuesday, October 22; 4:30pm; Law Courtyard: Dean Parrish invites you to join in celebrating the Center for Law and Equality, with a dinner reception to follow. RSVP by Monday, October 14 to attend.

Federal Bar Association - Orange County Chapter: Annual Judges' Night: Thursday, October 10; Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel; 6:00pm to 9:00pm: Join in honoring judges of the Ninth Circuit and Central District and Jennifer L. Keller of Keller/Anderle LLP. Make connections with federal judges, judicial staff, and attorneys from some of OC’s largest law firms. Interested students should fill out this form. Indicating interest does not guarantee a ticket, as there is a limited number of free tickets available.   

2Ls and 3Ls: Spring Externships: Students interested in Spring externships must register with the Externship office by December 1. See 9/18 email from Law Externships for more details.

1Ls: Interview Project Signups: Fall interviews are still available in Canvas. See Naomi Aguilar's 9/19 email for details to sign up.

3Ls: BigLaw/Public Interest Bar Prep Course Matching: Barbri and Themis are offering free bar prep course matches for public interest students when a BigLaw friend signs up through their firm. If you would like to be matched, email SBA 2L Rep, Jake Melton.

2Ls and 3Ls: American Arbitration Association: 2024 Diverse Student ADR Summit; Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10; New York City: Learn what it takes to become a successful arbitrator and/or mediator. See program details and apply by Wednesday, September 25 for a chance to receive a $2,000 scholarship for travel and hotel expenses.

2Ls and 3Ls: The Justice Hollis G. Best Scholarship: Students with financial need who demonstrate leadership capabilities can submit their application for an award of $2,000 by Wednesday, January 15. Primary considerations include academic achievement, as well as involvement in extracurricular and community activities.

2024-2025 Hogan/Smoger Access to Justice Essay CompetitionSubmit your essay on any "Access to Justice" topic for a chance to receive $5,000. View details and send your essay by Friday, April 30 at 11:59pm.

1Ls: ASP 1L Skills Development Workshop Series: See Canvas page for all workshops.

3Ls: California Bar Information:

  • CA Bar Presentation: Monday, October 21; 12:00pm; Zoom: CA State Bar representatives will discuss the Moral Character application and how to receive disability accommodations for the bar exam. Private meetings for questions will be held from 1:00-2:00pm. Look for an email from Dean Jones with the Zoom link prior to the event.
  • Livescan Fingerprint; Wednesday, November 13; 12:00pm to 1:00pm: Livescan fingerprinting is required as part of the Moral Character application. The $26 fee can be paid with cash, card, Venmo/Zelle or Android/Apple Pay.

CDO Library: Students are welcome to check out books or publications located in the CDO lobby for two weeks by contacting their counselor. View available titles on the CDO Library Online Catalog.

Wen School of Population & Public Health: 9th Annual Women's Health Summit; Friday, November 15; 8:30am to 1:30pm; Beckman Center: Join for a dynamic keynote address and an engaging panel discussion focused on the three critical stages of women’s health. Register to attend. Submit an abstract poster by Saturday, October 5 by 11:59pm for the chance to be featured in the Reproductive Justice Poster Session during the event.
