Meet Héctor:

I’m a proud product of public schooling and community support. Before coming to law school, I was an educator in South Central Los Angeles. I taught United States History and Ethnic Studies. As a first-generation college and law student, it’s refreshing to know that UC Irvine Law has built a community that supports all students regardless of their background.

I decided to attend UC Irvine Law because of its strong focus on public interest and pedagogical practices. UC Irvine Law offers students the ability to work on pro bono projects during the first semester of 1L year. Participating in pro bono projects is a great way to explore different areas of law and work under the guidance of dedicated and passionate attorneys.

UC Irvine Law is a rigorous but also supportive educational community. I find that professors here are patient and caring with students. Most importantly, UC Irvine Law has a structured Academic Skills Office that helps students learn how to learn and provides workshops throughout the year.

Deciding where to go to law school is challenging but it’s important to know where you feel the most welcomed. While I was at UCLA, I worked as an orientation counselor helping students decide on their classes, and I hope that I can be a part in helping you decide on your future law school!
