Meet Nicholas:
We likely haven't met yet but I'm looking forward to it. I'm a first-generation law student from North County San Diego. Prior to law school, I spent six years studying biochemistry, and in the course of my studies, I came to realize the need for diverse backgrounds in the legal profession, both in one's education and in their personal experiences. The law binds us all, yet relatively few in our society have the privilege to learn how to wield or shape it. I have come to UC Irvine Law hoping to do just that.

Here, I've found an institution that prioritizes community over competition. Making the switch from STEM to the law, I felt unsure of myself, with no other lawyers in my family, and when I arrived at orientation, I wasn't sure I was making the right step. But from the moment I stepped foot on campus, the staff, faculty, and student body have made me feel at home.

Since coming to campus, I’ve developed a passion for intellectual property law, because it allows me to combine my interests in science and law, while fighting for the innovators and creators that are shaping our collective future. My philosophy is to let the creators create and the lawyers litigate, and I hope to use my education to safeguard the work of those trying to make the world a better place. At UC Irvine Law, our Intellectual Property, Arts, and Technology Clinic gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IP law, and I’m excited to get involved next year.

In my free time, I've gotten involved in a number of campus extracurriculars, from affinity groups like BLSA and MESALSA, to pro bono work with Community Legal Aid SoCal and the Saturday Academy of Law (which I can't recommend enough), and enjoy hiking, cooking, badminton, racquetball, and squash. If any of that sounds remotely interesting to you, please feel free to reach out (that’s literally what we’re here for).
