Meet Madison:
Hi y’all! I was born and raised in Austin, Texas. I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I majored in Sociology and minored in Writing and Rhetoric.
On campus, I am the Vice President of Operations for SBA, a staff editor for Law Review, a Community Fellow, a Research Fellow for Professor King’s lawyering skills class, and am in the Covil Rights Litigation Clinic. This past summer, I externed for Judge Margo Rocconi at the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
When applying for law school, one of favorite professors in undergrad told me to apply to UC Irvine. I knew nothing about it so I went to ASW (Admitted Students Weekend). Over and over again you will hear about UC Irvine’s welcoming and supportive community. It wasn’t until my 1L that I realized how they weren’t just “selling” the school. A couple weeks into the first semester I got sick, but I didn’t tell anyone that I wasn’t going to class except for my professors. When I woke up I had about three texts from different people that I had recently met asking if I was okay and if I needed the notes from class that day. That’s just a little anecdote that I think about a lot. You might be wondering why that matters for your law career. I can say now that I think this environment has made me genuinely enjoy law school. Even though it’s hard and a big adjustment it is so great to be “suffering” with people who want to help you succeed. I think that is a rare experience to have in law school especially at a school that has a program as competitive as UC Irvine.
I absolutely love meeting prospective students, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have about our law school, the admissions process, or anything in between!
