Michael Jacobs

Michael Jacobs is Professor of Political Economy in the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) at the University of Sheffield. From 2016-18 he was Director of the IPPR Commission on Economic Justice, and lead author of its final report, Prosperity and Justice: A Plan for the New Economy. An economist, Michael was formerly a member of the Council of Economic Advisers at the UK Treasury (2004-7) and Special Adviser to Prime Minister Gordon Brown (2007-10). From 2010-15 he advised governments and NGOs on international climate change strategy in the run up to the Paris conference.
