Media Advisory: UCI Law to host panel on “Cultivating Consciousness in Acjachemen Homelands”
WHAT: A panel of Native community leaders and academics will discuss the history of the lands now known as Irvine, as well as the relationships between the place, the university and the Indigenous communities in whose territory the campus is located. Topics for discussion include the history of development’s impact upon Native Nations in Orange County, the legal issues raised by development, and Native cultural perspectives on good planning and development.

WHO: UCI Law Assistant Professor Seth Davis will serve as moderator. Panelists include:
- Angela Mooney D’Arcy, Executive Director, Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples and member of Juaneño Band of Mission Indians, Acjachemen Nation
- Charles Sepulveda, Ph.D. candidate at UC Riverside and member of Acjachemen Nation
- Joyce Stanfield Perry, Cultural Resource Director, Juaneño Band of Mission Indians, Acjachemen Nation
