UCI Law Announces New Early Decision Program for Student Applicants
IRVINE, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2020) — The University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law) is pleased to announce the creation of a Binding Early Decision program for applicants interested in attending the law school as their first choice for a legal education. The program will be available as of September 1, 2020 for those applying for the Fall 2021 Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree program, and is designed for applicants who have thoroughly researched their law school options and have identified UCI Law as their top choice law school.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer an early decision program for the first time at the law school,” said Cristina Gapasin Tortal, Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Financial Services at UCI Law. “I am certain this will help us continue to bring on board some of the best students around the country.”
UCI Law’s Early Decision program is binding – if admitted through the program, the applicant is required to withdraw all other applications and not initiate any new ones to other law schools. The admissions process will be just as selective as it is with the regular applicants. The law school has allocated $30,000 in scholarship funding per academic year for every Early Decision admitted student for a total of $90,000 over their three years of full time enrollment.
“In guaranteeing those admitted through our Early Decision program a substantial scholarship, the Admissions Committee has doubled down on UCI Law’s desire to have an inclusive, motivated, and thoughtful student body that will truly be able to access a UCI Law education,” said Pete Eraca, Director of Admissions at UCI Law.
Early Decision applicants must have their application complete by November 15 and will receive a decision by the end of December. If admitted, students must commit to matriculating at UCI Law and submit a nonrefundable deposit by the date(s) indicated with their admission letter. If an Early Decision candidate is not successful in securing admission through the program, their application will be rolled-over into the regular decision pool. Rolled-over Early Decision applications will receive a decision by March. For more information about the program, please click here.
